Bithika Anand, Edge International’s Principal in India, will be in London and will join our UK Principals to present a status report and analysis of the Indian legal market.  The event is kindly being hosted by Osborne Clarke’s India Group at their offices at One London Wall.

This Round Table will be informal with plenty of opportunity for discussion and questions.  Anyone interested in understanding the latest developments in the Indian market for legal services will find this a very valuable event and a unique opportunity to get the 2012 perspective on this important subject.

Presenters

Nick Jarrett-Kerr will introduce and chair the session, reflecting on his own recent experience in working with law firms in India – how Indian law firms are facing the challenges of growth, specialisations and international quality.

Bithika Anand will present a status report on the Indian legal market and cover doing business in India; current state of FDI inflows and outflow; how to choose the best law firms to partner with; the current state of regulation.

Chris Bull will summarise the latest developments and likely next phase of growth in the India centred offshore legal outsourcing market.

We will allow at least 45 minutes for discussion and Q&A.

Bithika Anand is the Founder and CEO of Legal League Consulting. She has more than 23 years of experience in professional services domain, being associated with some of the leading brands in the industry.

Nick Jarrett-Kerr LL.B
is a member of Edge International, a leading global consultancy to law firms.  He is a specialist adviser to law firms world-wide on issues of strategy, governance and leadership development as well as all important business issues facing law firms as they compete in difficult market conditions.  In the last nine years, Nick has established himself as one of the leading UK and international advisers to law firms.  He was a founder member of the (England & Wales) Law Society’s Law Management Section and served as its Chairman for two years.  He is also a member of the UK Association of Partnership Practitioners.

He is a regular writer and speaker on management and leadership topics with an emphasis on strategic and business planning, as well as issues of governance and structure, partner compensation and strategy execution.  He also has a particular interest in management/leadership development, financial management, partnership performance criteria and partner development.  He regularly leads or facilitates retreats, partner conferences, practice group retreats and away days. Prior to becoming a consultant, Nick (who is a solicitor by training) was for eight years the Chief Executive Partner of Bevan Ashford, during a period of enormous growth starting in the depths of the 1989-1992 recession.

In the last five years, he has consulted to firms in sixteen different countries on three different continents, including three of India’s principal law firms

Chris Bull has been a leading practitioner and pioneer in the field of professional law firm management for over 15 years.  His work with clients focuses on assisting the swift, successful execution of strategy and particularly on operational and financial performance and the implementation of new business models.  This includes a focus on the emerging world of legal outsourcing, both legal and business process outsourcing, and the offshoring and relocation of services, whether outsourced or captive.  His appointment as Chief Executive of top 30 UK firm Osborne Clarke in 2000 was in the first wave of external senior executive appointments in the market.  In his global leadership role at outsourcing firm Integreon (with over 1,000 staff based in India and other offshore locations), he was a key contributor to achieving a legal market leading position in just a few years and personally directed two of the legal world’s most substantial and innovative outsourcing deals to date.
